All waste samples undergo analysis as part of our pre-acceptance process. We are able to conduct the following tests on-site to ensure that materials accepted are for treatment at Sterling, and which treatment within our aerobic or anaerobic plant.
- Environmental Quotient (EQ) water – Desktop exercise which models concentration of materials after being processed by the aerobic or anaerobic plant, treated by a third party off-site as trade effluent
- Respirometry – Very quick test to assess biomasscan be inhibitory or oxygen scavenging
- Chemical oxygen demand (COD)
- Biomethane potential (BMP)
- Gas chromatography (GC) analysis
- Foaming
- List 1 and 2 chemicals assessment
