Compliance

At Sterling, safety and compliance are of paramount importance to us, and we are committed to protecting our employees, our customers’ projects, and the communities we are part of.

Our Cramlington, UK site is an upper tier Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) site, which means that we have facilities to handle, process and store significant quantities of hazardous substances.

Our waste treatment facility was last audited by the Environment Agency in December 2022 and our effluent is regularly monitored by Northumbrian Water. Residing within our parent company’s pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing site, our site is also audited by regulators including the MHRA and FDA, and conforms to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards.

Our waste treatment site also benefits from:

  • On-site emergency response team
  • Two emergency response vehicles
  • 24-hour security team
  • Comprehensive CCTV system
  • Dedicated Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA)
  • CIWM (WAMITAB) certified Plant Manager
